Paris, September 2019.
Kenzo, Yamamoto, Castelbajac, Gaultier—names of designers Charivari introduced to the United States decades ago.
How old are these designers now? Are they still involved in the day-to-day operation of their labels? What role do they play in the new collections? Or as the fashion industry has evolved, have they moved on from their well known labels and sold their “brands” to conglomerates like Louis Vuitton Moët Hennessy (LVMH), Kering, the PRADA GROUP and OTB.
There are even more questions to be asked like: what did Charivari do for your brand? Did it bring to you what you thought it would? And what exactly was that? Or were they just happy for their designs to be bought?
This was the direction in which we were proceeding to add to our narrative, a layer personal in nature, but one that at the same time demonstrates an aspect of where the fashion industry is today (especially for the most famous of designers which Charivari carried).
Disappointing and unfortunately for today, although we now have access to these now legendary figures, this shoot will now be postponed due to scheduling conflicts and general unavailability. But...
Stay tuned this autumn as we refocus our efforts for moving forward from the shoot that almost was.
